In late 2019, Laura established Mars Design Studio—a lively creative space dedicated to imaginative woodworking. Prior to this, she collaborated with Jon to design unique outdoor environments. Laura’s passion for woodworking began when she made personalized cutting and charcuterie boards as gifts, which were met with enthusiastic praise. The positive response inspired her to launch Mars Design Studio. Now, the studio thrives on custom commissions and inventive woodworking projects, consistently emphasizing outstanding craftsmanship and innovative design.

Mars Design Studio is led by a deaf woman woodworking artist whose cutting and charcuterie boards are renowned for their elegance and quality. Her creations embody functional art, designed to enhance even the most sophisticated tables for generations. Each product is crafted with meticulous care, using select Appalachian and exotic hardwoods for cutting, charcuterie, and serving boards, along with remarkable woodworking art displays. Every item is hand-finished with pure, food-grade mineral oil, eco-friendly linseed oil, and a beeswax conditioner to ensure lasting durability. Dedicated to sustainability, she transforms reclaimed wood into eye-catching wall art and shallow bowls. Her designs showcase bold colors and unique patterns, highlighting the natural beauty of the wood—without the use of stains or dyes.
